Marbella Winter Weddings

Destination weddings in winter are not all about the Caribbean, Mexico and other far flung destinations – we are surprised how few couples consider Marbella for a winter wedding.

Statistically Marbella has the best climate in Europe in Winter months, the micro climate ensuring that daytime temperatures average around 18 ºC throughout the winter months (which for Marbella means November – February!).  With daylight hours spanning 10 -11 hours, it is a perfect time for a winter wedding.

Your guests will love the cheap flights and massively discounted hotel rates too!

Venues are in less demand too – you will most likely be able to rent a truly fabulous Marbella Mansion to host your wedding from, for a fraction of the high season prices . Minimum spends wont apply in low season as most of the in-demand venues will be delighted with your business off season!

As Marbella Wedding Planners with over 20 years experience of planning weddings in Southern Spain, we have the knowledge to help you create your perfect winter wedding in Marbella.

Winter weddings should start with a lunchtime ceremony, somewhere between 12.3 – 13.30 is ideal.  Taking advantage of the midday sun and best of the daytime temperatures. Your wedding breakfast will be able to be held outside too!  It wont be warm enough to party on into the evening outside, but the amazing deals you will get should more than compensate for that!

Beach wedding in winter? – Absolutely!  The beaches are very quiet, so no photo-bombing by bikini clad spoilsports!  The light is incredible, sharp clear blue skies are the norm in Marbella winters.  Sunset comes in at around 18.30, those sunset shots will be extra special at this time of the year !

A word of caution though – we cannot guarantee the weather will be perfect of course, so you should be prepared to accept it, if on the day it is cloudy or raining. When Marbella Marriages organises a Winter Wedding, we always ensure the venue chosen has a ‘Plan B’ which won’t add any unexpected expense to your budget at the last moment.

Sharing with our readers some photos of a really beautiful November wedding which was held at one of Marbella’s iconic beachfront 5 star hotels.  The day of the wedding, the temperature hit 23ºC.  The bride and groom and family (60 guests) travelled over from New York, all staying at the hotel.

Marbella Marriages started working with bride Priscilla online, via Sykpe and WhatsApp, she was incredibly trusting as her work commitments meant it was impossible for her to leave USA to come plan her wedding.  She gave us a totally free hand, just sending us photos of flowers and table designs she liked – a very basic brief and let us run with it – it was a lot of fun, but a big responsibility!

We organised a pre-wedding welcome party in an incredibly pretty Old town Marbella restaurant. Held outside in the restaurant courtyard – we had flamenco, tapas and traditional Fino & Rebujitos, it was a great icebreaker and welcome to Spain to the guests, most of whom had never been to Spain before!
