August 2019 was one of the hottest on record, which certainly added to the challenge of hosting a wedding at a private country house for 140 guests! The bride’s parents own a very beautiful country Estate near Jimena de la Frontera – a pretty hillside town in Cadiz province. The bride had long cherished a dream to have her wedding at the family home. Our brief was to create a magical, yet natural setting for the ceremony – bearing in mind the bride wanted to ride into the ceremony on her horse!
We had a boho chic theme running throughout the day, with plenty of traditional Spanish touches. The fabulous Jackie Brown Band provided music throughout the day – classical Spanish guitar and sax for the early part of the day, leading into a full 7-piece high energy band for the party – which went on until 5am!!
The bride looked fabulous – she even manged to get on the horse without spoiling her dress – which I have to say did give me a few nervous moments!
Setting the scene at the drinks reception was one of Andalucia’s most well known vencidora and cortador – professional sherry pourer and Jamon cutter – this is an art believe me!!
The dinner took place on the West lawn which has the most incredible backdrop of Jimena village, the Moorish castle fully illuminated created a truly spectacular night time view!
The following day we turned a large horse training ring into a beach! Yep really, with sand, deck chairs , parasols and more, whilst the amazing Gusto catering worked a 2nd day of miracles, show cooking huge paellas under a scorching 42 degree sun!
We were incredibly proud of our team over these two full on days, there were many challenges to be overcome – not least the access to the Estate – being a rather narrow, bumpy hillside track – not easy negotiated by catering vans, furniture rental lorries and even mini buses for guest transport…but we did it!! This was a really spectacular two day wedding and one that we will certainly never forget!!
